Print Speed

Hi guys,

E3D hotend, 0.3mm nozzle, gt2 upgrades & trapezoidal z axis,

What roughly should my print speed be for a fair size object (about 80 x 40 x 80mm)

I’m at 220 degrees at the moment, 0.2mm layers, and 40mm/s print speed,

What’s the maximum speed (just an estimate) I could go to? Just to speed up the prints as I’ve got quite a few I need to do in a limited amount of time.

Thanks,

Dave

That highly depends on your filament (the faster you print the more it will possibly shrink)
on the geometry of your parts (corners and arcs slow down)
and the mechanical capability of your printer.

I managed to get about 60-80mm/s on large simple parts with a bigger nozzle and the e3d volcano upgrade.
I use 0.6 or 0.8mm nozzle sizes then, or even bigger if the otical quality isn’t an issue.

For smaller or more complex parts i can go 30-50 mm/s on my machine, with the stock e3d heater block.

Cool thanks, probably safer for me to just stick at 40mm/s then
