Print quality going bad after first few layers

When my print starts off the quality is very high and seems to work very well however after a few layers the quality seems to reduce significantly and becomes irregular and doesn’t stick to the layers below.

In the link below is the upside of the print where the quality is poor after a few layers have been printed.

This is the base of the object and as you can see the quality is good.

What could be the cause of this and how could i prevent it?
Thanks in advance

It looks like the nozzle is to far from the bed.

As a quick test when the printer starts adjust the Z axis manually by turning the lead screw by hand.
In your case lower it until the plastic is kind of squished on the bed.
If this helps recalibrate the Z axis height.

I gave this a try and it is still producing the same problem.

Any ideas of what else it could be?

Thanks

If this is PLA are you running the temp of the extruder at 190C?

It has been running at 205 due to a recommendation from a friend.
I will re-print with 190 and see if it fixes the problem.

I tried reducing the hotend temperature and and it didn’t make any difference so I varied the z-axis height and still no improvement.
This is what the first layer looked like.

It looks like not enough filament is being extruded. Could this be a reason for it?

Thanks for the help

Try calibrating your extrusion length.

I´ve had this problem and manually pushed the filament down a little bit. The print then resumed and finished successfully.

Afterwards, I have tightened the screw that presses onto the filament a bit more as I supposed that the problem might be caused by the filament spool pulling too much, therefore the filament slipping back through the extruder. Though, not sure about this.
