Powered models for christmas?

Having just built a P8055N -2 (K8055N) my son asked what can it do?

So…
I built a motor controller.

This is the circuit:

Rb can be reduced if you need more current through the TIP42a
According to the datasheet the TIP has a gain of 20 under duty cycle.
I powered the box with a usb connector but also added a pair of 4mm connectors so that an alternative power supply could be used. The 400mA fuse was included to prevent damage to the PC usb port.
The motor lead polarity was set so that the led on the output line is on when the motor is driving clockwise.
I made a comb connector plug for the buffer box to K8055N connection. With ribbon cable and shrink tubing.

For the comb connector I used 2.54 mm pin header strip, with every second pin removed.
Output line 8 was used because of its proximity to PWM1.
My VB6 software http://ccgi.davepatterson.plus.com/shared/motor.zip
Please alter check1(0) and check1(1) to match the memory configuration for your board!

Does anyone have any VB projects they would like to share?

Regards David

PS What do you think of my son’s model?

Nice!

Thanks for sharing.

Happy holidays,
Jan

That is so cool
Nice job

It is wonderful to see that you created this together with your son, thumbs up
