Power problems at first boot

Hello!

I have built the printer and upgraded the firmware to the latest version without any problems, but when I attach the power cable and try to execute the “Auto Home” command nothing happens :frowning:

I have tried/observed the following:

[ul]
[] With the mainboard attached to the power supply I get an voltage 1.8V from the supply[/]
[] I disconnected the power supply from the mainboard and measured the out voltage to 15V[/]
[] Connecting only mains and not the USB cable, gives a blank LCD[/]
[] Having the mains attached for a few minutes led to hot driver boards (approx 70°C)[/]
[/ul]

Does anyone have an idea about how I should proceed?

Best regards

There could be a short somewhere.

First check that the stepper drivers are in the correct position correctly plugged (and not upside down).

Then remove all the cables from the main board (except the PSU and the LCD). Now connect the PSU and check if something is displayed on the LCD. You can also measure the voltage of the PSU.
If this step is OK then power down the printer, plug the cables in one by one until you find which one is faulty.

Thank you raby for the help.

Unplugged all cables and connected the PSU without the LCD lighting up.
Then removed the drivers and connected the PSU again, still nothing except a slight crackle and smell of ozone :frowning:

On the plus side, the LCD still lights up when connecting the USB.

I suspect that the PSU is the problem, and will start by sending it in for repair/exchange

Again thanks for help

Is the hotend turning by itself?

Nope, nothing at all moves.

OK, so I exchanged the PSU with no change in behaviour. :frowning:

Next step: changing the mainboard.

There is a switch in the power supply for 110v 220v is that set right.
I don’t want to offend but this could be a step that is over looked sometimes.

Thanks, had that thought also but “unfortunately” no it wasn’t the problem.

Hello, I finally got my act together and exchanged the mainboard.

Thanks everyone. Now I only need to understand the printing process
