Power frequency

Hi all,
I just picked up a HPS140 today. I have not used a scope since school.
I wish to check the frequency output from a couple of 120V 60Hz pure sine wave inverters.
I have reason to think that the frequency is unstable at start up and takes around 10 mins to fully “warm up”.

How would I go about setting up the scope to see this happening in the sine wave?

Many thanks
Nick

Normally the autorange function will work in this case. The frequency you can deduct from the grid or by means of the time markers.
Use a 10:1 probe for measuring 120 V and be careful.

Hi laserguy,
Thanks very much for your reply. I worked out how to use the hold mode and switch the markers to frequency. I was then able to mark the sinewave and get a measurement in Hz.
60.24Hz to be exact.
All in all this a neat scope. It would be nice to have real time frequency but it’s been good enough
to show where I had a problem.

Thanks again
Nick

You’re welcome Nick, enjoy your HPS140.
