Not sure if this is the right section to ask…
Up to now I’ve only used Velleman ‘natural’ PLA filamant. It has a smooth finish.
I now have a coloured PLA sample from EUMakers to try out and I found it has a rough finish. Is this normal for coloured PLA? Do I need to adjust for this different texture?
Different brands and colors can give different results. You’ll have to adapt temperatures and flow for each. You can use a test tower to determine the best temperature for your filament (something like this : http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:662538).
I got the attached results with EUMaker http://www.eumakers.com/en/ PLA printing this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:85582. I used the same S3D settings as for Velleman PLA (natural), which prints fine, or at least with complete bottom & top layers. I did reduce infill quite drastically to 20% (not sure why any more). I am printing at 0.2mm, 190° first layer, and 180° subsequent layers
