PCSU 1000 with Vista64

I can´t install the USB-driver and and(!) the Oszi-Software on my new
Computer !
ASUS Mainboard P5E with Intel Core2 Quad and Vista64
USB fail = can´t find driver
Software fail = Software is no 32bit or 64bit compatible

A new driver for the FTDI chip used in the PCSU1000 is available from:
ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm

Driver Version is 2.02.04
It is suitable for following operating systems:
Windows Vista
Windows Vista x64
Windows XP
Windows XP x64
Windows 2000
Windows Server 2003
Windows Server 2003 x64

I’m afraid that anyhow it doesn’t work under Vista 64. The reason is that the PID and VID used in the PCSU1000 scope are not same as the default PID and VID that are digitally signed.

What to consider when you install a 64-bit version of Windows Vista
• 64-bit device drivers may not be available for one or more devices in the computer.
Device drivers must be digitally signed.
• 32-bit device drivers are not supported.
• 32-bit programs may not be fully compatible with a 64-bit operating system.
• It may be difficult to locate programs that are written specifically for a 64-bit operating system.
• Not all hardware devices may be compatible with a 64-bit version of Windows Vista.

If you anyhow like to try, I can give you a link to the modified .inf files.

After exctracting the drivers copy ftd2xx.dll from the driver subfolder to the folder C:\Program Files\Velleman\PC-Lab2000SE (or to the folder where you installed the Pc-Lab2000SE program).

After plugging the PCSU1000 to the USB connector the installation of the two drivers starts (PCSU1000 and VCP). After completing you have to go to Device Manager.
In the Universal Serial Bus controllers section double click “PCSU1000 Oscilloscope”.
On the “Advanced” tab uncheck the “Load VCP” and click OK.
After reconnecting the PCSU1000 it should work.

These tests are made under Windows XP.
