So I’m wondering if I can use my pcsgu250 as a variable DC voltage source? I’ll only need about 25uA at 3V. I see the software allows up to 5V DC out, but not sure about current draw. I couldn’t find anything in the specs regarding this either so thought I might try asking here.
I certainly don’t want to fry my function generator, so thought I’d better ask before giving it a shot.
No need to worry - the generator output is short circuit protected. At 5V it can output about 90mA when short circuited.
There is internal 47 ohm resistor at the output. You can calculate the output voltage:
Vout = Vset - Vdrop
Vset = Voltage setting in the user interface.
Vdrop = Iout * 47
