I am having difficulty in understanding how one should read the frequency scale in the spectrum analyzer mode.

The problem is well illustrated in the reply on this forum by VEL255 to Yuki35.

Therein you state that the input generator frequency is 1.1kHz.

I suppose that the horizontal frequency scale is linear, and so - in my view - the spectrum shows that signal as being at 1.8kHz (and not 1.1kHz).

Please would you clarify how one should read that frequency scale.

The spectrum analyzer gridlines are just a “copy” from the oscilloscope screen.
The vertical lines are not adjusted according to the frequency scale.
You can use the cursor function to check the frequency.
