PCGU1000 & Winows7 64bit

I have done all of the things listed in the work around posted (I think) for this problem but I still cannot get my unit to function with my new ACER Aspire 4820T using Windows7. I use my PCGU1000 on its own. The unit functions perfectly on my old WindowsXP Computer but its falling apart!
I have loaded driver 5.4.0.0 and the latest version of CP210x_VCP_win2K_XP_S2K3.
can anyone help, its driving me mad!
Thank you PMB

Did you run the CP210x_VCP_Win2K_XP_S2K3.exe included to the PCLab2000SE software package you downloaded from Velleman site? If you used other version of the CP210x_VCP_Win2K_XP_S2K3, then the workaround doesn’t function.

If you look in Device Manager under “Ports (COM & LPT)”, do you see “PCGU1000 Function Generator (COMx)” ? (The x is the port number.)

If you downloaded the software package v4.03 from Velleman site, then you have to run the PCLab2000SE “As Administrator” to get the function generator running.

Here is the link to download the latest pre-release PCLab2000SE v4.04: box.com/s/c9nis5ro05if3oop9ptk

I really do appreciate your quick response VEL255!! After your comments I stripped all Velleman and associated programs from my system and reinstalled from the latest link you provided. Sadly I still had no joy…exactly the same as before.

When I look at the device manager under Other Devices the PCGU1000 Function generator is present but no(Com x). When I look in the properties for the device it gives the port as Port_#0002.Hub#0003.
This port does change when I move to a different port.

Any Further suggestions??

Did you successfully install the PCGU1000 driver anyhow?

If you double click the PCGU1000 under the Other Devices and select the Driver tab, do you see something like this:

Thanks for your reply VEL255.
When I check my system as you suggested it appears that the driver is NOT installed. I definitely ran both install procedures…what did I miss??

This is very strange problem.
You may (once again) select the Update Driver button and then browse to the PCGU1000 driver folder where you downloaded and extracted the driver files.

To VEL255…Success!!! You have been great!! The manual procedure you suggested worked and the system is now working perfectly.

Many thanks once again for your responsiveness and suggestions!!

Regards
Peter

This is good news indeed!
Thank you for the reply.
