PCGU1000 Power Supply

Hello,
The supplied adapter produces 9 Volts at up to 600mA.
My question is - What is the supply voltage range and current draw of the PGC1000?
Ideally I would like to run it from 12V. If it has to be 9V then I’ll need the current draw to design the regulator/heatsink assembly to drop my 12V down to 9V.
Would 12V cause excessive power dissipation in the internal 78L05A SO-8 regulator?
Many Thanks.
Ian

The output voltage of the supplied adapter seems to be about 9.7V.
The current draw of the PGC1000 is 180mA in normal operation.
The current draw increases to 290mA if the generator output is short circuited with maximum output voltage.

I think you can easily drop the 12V to proper level by adding three diodes (e.g. 1N4005) in series with the power supply.

Thank you very much for your prompt and comprehensive reply. Ian
