Pc generator connecting to microcontroller

Is it possible to control the PC FUNCTION GENERATOR PCG 10A with a microcontroller without using the provided program PC_Lab 2000SE?

Can I connect the parallel port of the PC FUNCTION GENERATOR PCG 10A with the RS 232 serial interface of the microcontroller with one adapter cable or must I use a parallel/serial converter to convert the signals?

In case of yes: can you give an example for such a paralllel/serial converter?

thx

There are only four control lines needed to operate the PCG10. You may drive those directly from the microcontroller. No need to use any serial output to parallel converter.
To get the optocouplers of the interface section of the PCG10 operating, connect any of the pins 18…25 of the D-sub 25 connector to GND of your control board.
Connect +5V to any of pins 2…6 and connect pin 17 to GND of your board.

Then just control the operation using pins 1, 7, 8 and 9.

The operation is described in the document K8016_PCG10 operation.pdf.
This and some other documents are located in “D:\Technical info\PCG10_K8016 PC Generator” folder on the companion CD.

However all this may be rather cumbersome…
