I am a new Vertex user and very satisfied with this printer. The assembling process was a pleasant and interesting job; the Velleman instructions are great.
Just made my first prints (of course also the nice helpfull z-axis stabilizer) and the results are above expectation.
But this were only small objects and now I’d like to print an object that just fits the build volume. However, I am struggling to get my object in position so that it doesn’t cut off a part while printing. I thought Repetier would position the object automatically between the printing borders, but it is not.
Am I doing something wrong? How do I make a workflow without this position failures? Do I have to change the standard printer settings (measuring the printerbed)?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

With the right nozzle, you must print to the right of the black dot, and let free 4 squares in front, one in the back and one on the right of the build area.
Thanks Raby, for your explanation!
But I don’t get it though. The printbed is 215 mm in depth. If I substract 4 squares in front and 1 in the back (= 50 mm) the building depth would be 165 mm while it should be (according to documentation) 180 mm.
I have a single printhead.
I have made a cross shaped object (buildplate size 215 x 240) to measure the margins of the build surface. (I have a picture, but I can’t upload it from my computer?)
The margins are:
front: 20 mm
left: 39 mm
rear: 15 mm
right: 1 mm
So the build surface is nicely 180 x 200 mm. To know this margins is essentially for placing large objects in Repetier.
Unfortunately, it seems that the grid with 10 mm steps in Repetier on which you position your object isn’t corresponding exactly with the real life buildplate size. Anyway, at my printer.
In y-direction there is a difference from about 10 mm.
Maybe someone from Velleman can explain how to exactly position a max sized object (180 x 200) in Repetier so it will print the whole object without cutting-off’s.
I found it. The black dot has to be moved to the front-edge. Printer settings, tab Printer shape, the bed front is default -5 but has to be 0.
In that case the margins which I mentioned before, work out correct.
