Hi Everyone.
Well buying this printer in kit was a huge mistake.
After 3 days I’m still struggling to make it work.
Now it prints, but when it doesn’t move the head to the right place, see picture.
I check the pulleys and all, tighten it all up, still not working…
See picture…
Anyone has any idea ?
I understand why you said it was a huge mistake.
I think a lot of us had those thoughts at first when they couldn’t make a successful print at first.
What you should do is the following:
- Check here: http://www.k8xxx-3dprinters.crimed.be/w/index.php?title=XY-Carriage_Alignment this is a wiki post on how to align your X and Y axis properly, this will already resolve your issue when done correctly. Doing this however will take a lot of time and effort and probably a few tries as well, but once you got it right it shouldn’t be a problem anymore. (The most important part is that your printhead can move freely when tilting the printer without belts attached.
- Also when you are doing that: oil your rods with decent oil, I would say sewing machine oil. This will make it even better!
- Last thing to check is the voltages of your stepper drivers, more info can be found here: k8xxx-3dprinters.crimed.be/w … er_drivers
Good luck!
Thanks !
The shift is pretty huge given the small discrepancy there may be in the pulleys, do you think there may be something else? Like configuring the software so that it goes to the right place?
Because it should start printing in the middle but goes to the right instead.
Thanks!
I also noticed that some pulleys were facing the wrong direction,
do you think this may have something to do with it ?
So I changed the direction of the pulleys, rechecked all pulleys, distance between everything, recompiled the firmware…
And when I ‘auto home’ it goes to the right and doesn’t stop so can’t stop moaning
Make sure that one of the Linear Bearing Clamps is not running into one of the pulleys.
If this is not happening you may want to clean the end stop with a qtip.
Thank you,
I checked it, seems fine,
I’ve build rebuilding most of it, checking every angle, every pulley, etc.
Now the X & Y axis don’t move anymore despite some noise in the motors…
Only Z is working.
Honestly I think I’m going to give up, spend 40+ hours on this, needed it for my startup this week, I’m going to spend more and get a working solution.

Actually it seemed like it was going to the right, then was moaning because the other motor ( Yaxis) was on without enable the printer head to move…
Now both X & Y don’t move.
Have you looked at this link?

You may need to “tap” the Linear Bearing Clamps out a little.
Yup, I’ve repeated the process 3-4 times.
I’ve got exactly the same distance at any point, the head moves well when I tilt the printer @ 45°, in every direction.
I’m mostly worried now about the fact that the X & Y motors don’t work at all.
The screws that hold the pulleys on the motor are they tight?
Since you have the belts off do that turn at all?
yep they’re pretty tight.
So I unscrewed the belts and tried to get it to move, but it didn’t do anything.
There was a sound thought, and a sound each time I moved the handle, but nothing was moving.
Could you post a video on a free website and put the link up here?
You know there is a switch in the power supply 110V / 220V is that set at the right voltage?
Do you have 15VDC coming out of the power supply?
