We built this printer in school and the prints have just been better and better but we have never got rid of this. The object never get a straight side as you can see in the picture below. Do you guys know why or have something we can test to get rid of it?
This is called Z-Wobble.
You can solve this by buying the z-axis upgrade kit

Also looks like heavy overextrusion.
What layer height did you use?
I actually don’t remember. This is a pretty old print but that melting look is now gone.
Can you post a recent picture of a print then?
Okay, the newer pictures clearly show heavy z axis wobble.
Maybe you want to look for this to fix it :
If you don’t want to buy the upgrade kit: Using a flex coupler should eliminate most of the wobble.

Can you link to a flex coupler that would work?
Should be for 5mm / 8mm shafts like this one:
