I have assembled the K8400 printer. It worked after the first try! Perfect. Printed 3 pieces already.
But I have now unloaded my initiatal string of orange PLA and inserted a new string of blue PLA. And now it is not coming out of the nozzle. I tried the orange PLA, but the same result. It feeds, but it does not come out of the nozzle. The temp is OK, all seems fine…
Thanks for the reaction, I solved it yesterday. The shop sold me a package (from Velleman) with all kinds of different collours. I presumed this was PLA, but yesterday I looked at the package and it was ABS (…). So I dismantled the printer-head, cleaned everything and inserted the fillament, now with the ABS settings.
Could I ask what the longest print time you’ve managed with the K8400 is? With it being a new design I’m bit nervous about its reliability, have you managed long prints (8-10+ hours) successfully?
My longest job i 14+ hours with no problems. But that being said, a printer with a hotend capable of reaching temperatures of 300+ deg C should probably not be left unattended or unmonitored for longer periods of time. How you actually accomplish this task is a good question.
I mounted a smoke detector over my K8200 and set a camera on it so I can watch it on my cell phone.
I don’t leave the house while it’s printing but I can do other things and keep an eye on it
I just received my raspberry pi with camera module, so hopefully I will soon be running OctoPi for control and monitoring… A smoke detector is a very nice idea!
