Hi,
I just purchased a PCGU100 USB function generator, installed the driver from the CD on my XP pro PC, Also installed PC-Lab2000se. Even booted up the PC again. But then an error message appears:
No Function Generator Response
Check your power connection and restart this program.
To give you any more clue’s
The ON/READY lamp on the unit never turns on.
The power adapter output voltage is 9.8V and when I measure the current it’s using about 100mA i.e. no bad power connection.
Question:
Is this unit faulty or have I forgotten to do anything?
Yes, loading appears for a few seconds before the error message.
But: I connected the unit and installed the software on my old Windows 2000 PC. and it worked. There must be something rotten in the XP instalation procedure. By the way, the documentation talkes about installing only one driver but you have to install 2. One USB and One com port.
The error message after the “LOADING” text indicates that the power adaptor of the PCGU1000 is not OK.
I think you have used the same power adapter with the Win2000 system where everything works fine – strange.
To check that the driver is properly installed please do following:
Connect the power supply and the USB cable to the PCGU1000 generator.
Go to Device Manager (Control Panel | System | Hardware | Device Manager). Scroll down to Ports and click the plus sign.
There should be seen text: “PCGU1000 COM Port (COMx)” The x is the port number and must be in between 1 … 9.
What is the port number you see?
Scroll down to the Universal Serial Bus section and click the plus sign.
There should be seen text: “PCGU1000 Function Generator”.
If both OK then the drivers are properly installed.
This is strange problem.
BTW: On bottom of page 5 of the “Getting Started/Instructions” manual there is mentioned to repeat the installation process if 2 drivers (USB and COM) must be installed.
I have the same problem.
Have been the second “PCGU1000” from “conrad.at”.
Doesent work both.
I always have the same problem.
LED ON READY is not lit and the following error message.
DRIVER is properly installed.
Device is in the hardware manager also be properly recognized.
Several have already installed the driver and USB cable re-connected PC and software and re-started.
The PCGU1000 still does not working
Please help
Thank you very much
Hans greetings
I am using PCGU1000 and PCSU1000 with my desktop and my laptop at least for two or three months.
The problem of starting the FG is persisting and I am using different techniques to overcome it. I described one of them in a previous posting, but unfortunately I can not report 100% repeatability.
Recently I am using another technique - activating the FG only first, and without closing the application opening it anew, this time for the scope. In other words I am using two instances of the Pc-Lab application simultaneously.
My feeling is that this is purely a software problem and I hope that the manufacturer will solve it as soon as possible.

I had the same problem. It turned out my XP chose COM39 and forcing it to COM9 got it to work.
