No ETA when using SD card

I recently moved my printer to another room and therefor started using a SD card to move the g-code from the computer to the printer.

however now i don’t get a eta on the printer (used to be in the bottom of the screen) and now it only says “vertex is printing”.
anyone have a clue how to get the eta back?

As far I know you cannot get an ETE with the SD card, what you can see is a % and how long it is printing.
The logic behind this is that the printer cannot calculate the time left, but can show you how many lines of code it already did and calculate a %. This should still give you an average if you know how long it should take (you can see that in your slicer software) and how long it is already printing.

Ah, too bad.

I don’t think it’s impossible to make it work though. Doesn’t the printer have all the necessary information to calculate it?
As you say it has the % and time already spent printing. Im not great with math but wouldn’t this work:
Time spent / % completed - time spent = ETA?
I’m not confident enough with the software side to try it out though, do you think it might work?

I haven’t tried it, but I don’t think it will work.
Since I think the % is calculated on how many layers it have done, but… some layers might take 10 minutes and some 10 seconds. so this would not be accurate.

Dammit!

well i guess ill go invest in a timer.
thanks for the responses Tommy
