NEWBIE Need simple 16F627 Specific code

I’m just getting started and would appreciate a few simple programs for the 16F627 to help me learn assembler. There’s not much on the web surprisingly.

HI Bjarvis

What experience do you have at the moment? Have you read any basic tutorials? What sort of things are you hoping to do?

I am more than happy to help in any way that I can but just give me a few clues so that I may start to point you in the right direction.

Best regards,

Rupert

Thanks Rupert
I’ve programmed .ASP, VBS, JS and other stuff over the years and have a good grasp of the 16F627 architecture now. My frustration concerned the very specific use of the USART. I’m deep into INTCON, PIR1, PIE1 and so on and managed to get hold of a program that has helped. Presently I can “See” ASCII characters across LED3 (RB2) with an oscilloscope whilst waiting for a Max232. If you had anything on the RS232 side of things I would be grateful.
The other area I have to dig into is sending data to a web server, so I’m looking at the PIC18F97J60
These little gizmos are amazing!

OK you seem to be doing a good job. I am not sure how you are doing all that on a basic project board however! I have used the USART modules for some communication projects however all the code I have for that is either in Basic or C. What languages are you working in?
If I can be of any additional help then please let me know.

Happy coding!

Rupert

I’m waiting for a Max232 to (safely) communicate RS232. At the moment I’m using assembler to give me a good grasp of the chip’s guts. However, I would like to know more about the chip BASIC your using (done Visual Basic for years). Most “serious” stuff seems to be in “C” and I keep putting my “C” intro off. What would you recommend? Any program examples (Assembler, Basic or C) would be appreciated.
Big question - any experience/ideas re the Ethernet? The 18F97J60 looks good, but the development board is expensive. On the other hand the RCM5700 systems are much more versatile with a reasonable dev. brd. price but need “Dynamic C” experience. I’m tearing my hair out looking for examples on either of these devices.
Bottom line is I want to remotely set a Peete 2100 weather station to send (modified) data to a Modem/VHF radio setup (APRS) and also to a web server - hence the need for Ethernet.

Hi,

I think that from this point it would be better if you PM me. My email is rupert.handford@gmail.com. I will tell you what I am using, The applications I am using etc. I am happy to support you in any way that I can. There are many ‘opinions’ as to what is best but I can help you discover what is best for you. I have been developing applications for over 20 years and have worked in electronics/computers for longer than I care to remember! I may not know all the answers but I can certainly give you some impartial advice and support!

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Rupert
