New VM8201 LCD not working

I installed the VM8201 LCD and soldered the connector, checked the ribbon cable is oriented properly, flashed the firmware as I am very familiar with arduino. I did clip across the two posts for flashing the controller. The printer works fine but the LCD only show first and 3rd rows as black squares. No menu. The reset button on the LCD does work. Not sure what is going on.
The firmware download has the pdf for the LCD menu tree so I should have the correct firmware.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Kevin

Make sure flat cable red line faces connectors of main board.
Check every line of the flatcable for continuity between VM8201 and main board.
Check solderings of connector on main board.
Inspect VM8201 assembly, soldering and LCD connection.
Keep us informed.

Same problem. Nothing wrong with soldering or the flat cable. Used an ohm meter to check each wire end to end.
Please advise

If the info you supply is correct, then I would have to conclude that the VM8201 is not doing what it is supposed to do.
I’d suggest to return it to your distributor for repair or exchange.

i have the same problem now.
But i think that the software on the controller is overwritten by the update.
Is there a fix for or must i let it repair by the distributor
