New Vertex owner - my experience and problems

Hi everyone,

my name’s Jorge and I just bought and assembled this printer. FYI it’s my first try at 3D printing.
Gotta say it really is overwelming the amount of parts that are inside that “tiny” box ( nearly 300 bolts and nuts ?!?! ).
I wont go into details since there is a very good description by another user here.
Just wanna point out that the first print was more perfect than i expected :slight_smile:
Although after some failed prints i go some problems by fiddling with the printing settings:

  • First problem was the XY carriage clamps in Y axle were too tightened and the Y axle got really stuck near it’s end. Some “hammer” love got it fixed :stuck_out_tongue:
  • Got the filament stuck twice in the guide entrance. Probable cause - retract settings ( 4-5mm @ 150mm )
  • Burned the extruder board - can’t see any reason aside me when reassembling the printer head made something wrong. The resistor really GOT on fire ( some help here is welcome ). In the meanwhile i sent a ticket for help. Didn’t find the part to buy a new one…Gonna try and replace the capacitor and resistor also :slight_smile:

Aside all of this. I loved the assembling part ( it really makes it feel it’s ours. Well… I always loved assembling stuff )

Most likely a short circuit, please inspect your assembly before replacing the board, to avoid same problem.

Agree but my doubt is: “where?”

Something must have shorted: wiring, heater,…

The 25mm fan can do it?

Yes. You can easily check this with a multimeter.

While i wait for a reply from Velleman support can i get the schematics of the extruder board, pls.
So i can replace the resistor and capacitor

I’ve requested the diagram, will post it later on.

Hereby the extruder PCB diagram.

Getting page not found error

Please try again, I have fixed the error in the link

Got it.
Thank you very much.

What are the values of R1 and C1?
R1=10Ω?
C1=22μF?

Yes.

Ok was able to remove burned resistor but noticed the track is also burned…better wait for support response…also the extruder fan is dead…getting a replacement

small question

spare parts are shipped from Belgium?

US office handles spare parts for American continent.
Belgium office handles spare parts for rest of the world.

Thanks :slight_smile:
Figured as much…
Friday my wife calls me: " WHAT THE F*** YOU BOUGHT FROM BELGIUM!?"

Only good and sensible answer would be “A real Belgian waffle machine baby!”
