New PSU in vertex

Hello!

I am upgrading to a heated bed. But I wonder if I can replace the stock power supply with a 12 volt 30 ampere one. I don’t really like the idea of having two separate power supplies.

Thanks in advance

If you want to use only one PSU use a 15V 500W one. You can feed the bed through a SSR or a power expander.

I’ve got a 24V at home and want to use it to power my mainboard.
Wich converter do i have to use?

Unfortunately there is no simple way of using a single 24V power supply. The motherboard can take max up to 18V, if you want to use 24V you need to modify the board.

Yes, I think that this investions were really interesting

I use a second power supply in the assumption that

  • It allows for 24V (adjustable, try to go for 27-28V) which will generate less losses in wiring
  • Around 10A (24V) or 20A (12V) is switched every two seconds (lets say) and I was worried that this could cause a glitch and disturb the main board.

I am using a mechanical relay instead of a SSR in order to have minimal loss and have had no issue so far (12 months)
