New printer not locating to home without motors running over

it appears to go to home but motors keep operating although the stops have stoiped the head at the home position? Any ideas???

Just a guess
You should check the wiring to make sure they are all plugged into the correct position.
With a soft cloth try cleaning the end stops.
Check to see if the tabs are going into the end stops.

checked and double checked all correct wire placement when controlling manually it goes all around the work area with no problems

So two additional things to check:

  1. the LEDs for the end stop sensors are shining (normally red LEDs).

  2. the head is not blocked by some pulleys. It is possible to fix the pulleys in a position that they block the movement of the head carriage, even if it looks like the endstop is reached.

Does this behavior appears on all axes?

the lights are all on and it only seems to be when it goes home

got it pulley was off by 2 mm thanks for the help

How have you done that? It seems that I have the same problem with my printer, so I would like to hear how you did that.

Look at this post, there is a picture showing the critical pulleys.:

I loosened up the pulley on the right hand side where the x and y stops are and moved that bar on the right that is parallel with the outside right wall out toward the wall 2 mm more and it stopped because it was stopping the head from completely getting to the stops.

Thanks, I am going to try that later today.
