I work for a small manufacturing company that utilizes many CNC machines to produce parts. I have been asked to come up with a way to automate the count of parts produced.
They already have computers at these workcenters for measuring the parts, but they don’t measure each part, so they can’t produce a count using this method.
Each CNC has a PLC that is capable of sending a signal at programmed points of each part cycle to facilitate a “count.” I have a VM110, and I can wire an input of the VM110 to the PLC and get a “light” on the programming examples.
How can I turn this type of count information into a file (txt, xls, dbase, whatever) so the count totals can be viewed by a supervisor?
