I’ve the same question, before ordering a second extruder.
I have briefly used the 2 extruders on a small 2 color print, it took me some time to
calibrate the offset but it works wil try this weekend a bigger design.
Even if 2 color prints wouldn’t be possible i love the 2nd extruder as I don’t
have to change filament for different colors.
After one week of use I bought the 2nd extruder and it is a good investment.
Always spare parts available
I used cura but on Windows can’t feedback for the Mac version.
I would say go for it.
I have the 2nd nozzle but can not do a 2 color print with it in Cura (Mac). Even cannot print only with 2nd color…;-(
Someone usefull tips anybody?

Had some difficulties in the beginning as I mis selected
When printing 1 color with the 2 nd extruder select the second one for the object group
but don’t select in the slicer Vertex dual head but Vertex single head.
I know it sounds not right but this way it worked for me.
maybe not the same on Mac level.
Hope I helped
Indeed not the same on Mac. We use Cura as slicer program…
Windows version is same Repetier to control the printer and Cura as slicer.
