Motor/driver problem? help

Hi!

I assembled my K8200 printer with not too much trouble but I’m unable to get the printer to work properly.
I’m using Repetier 0.56 on mac. 64bits OSX usb driver (latest, following the link from the pdf).

I did a bit of troubleshooting. Here it is:

  • Thermistor values don’t show up on idle. Show up when running a print. Heaters seem to work.

  • Z axis responds well in Repeater, even in idle. Seems to work correctly.

  • X axis moves extremely slowly and makes a very faint high pitch noise. I tried to untighten the belt, doesn’t change anything. When starting a job, seems to work correctly

  • Y axis doesn’t respond to any command. Dismantling the Y belt and just keeping the bare motor doesn’t change anything. Wiring/soldering is correct per instructions pdf.

  • When starting a job, the printer seems to work properly except for the Y axis (no movement at all).

  • When switching X and Z pins on the MB, it reverses the problem. X moves very fast, Z struggles a lot (barely moves, high pitch noise)

  • When switching Y and Z pins on the MB, nothing moves (hm…)

  • When switching Z and E pins on the MB, E motor moves fast, ‘cold extrusion prevented’ error for the Z (sounds about right)

  • When switching X and Y, X moves in the opposite direction, very small movement. Y doesn’t react.

HELP :frowning:

Thanks a lot,

Did you set the stepper drivers to 0.55v?
Also check the wiring again, perhaps there is a loose solder joint or a broken line in the flat cable. (i had one broken in my extruder wiring)
