I have just successfully built the 3x3x3 LED cube, but I cannot find a driver for Windows 10.
The driver "download seems to deliver nothing.
The “Cube Animator 1.4” states that it includes drivers, but while it runs ok, and simulates the cube ok, it does not seem to include any drivers.
Any assistance would be welcome
You will need to navigate to your C:\ drive go to C:\program files (x86)\Velleman\CubeAnimator\Driver
In there you will find drivers for the MK193 and the K8018.
Please your MK193 into a USB port then go to Device manager locate the MK193 Right click and select update drivers.
I’m not sure for Windows 10 you may need to do this before you load the drivers because of the digital signatures
- Windows Key + R
- Enter shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00 <-- These are Zeros Note the spaces
- Click the “OK” button
- System will restart to a “Choose an option” screen
- Select “Troubleshoot” from “Choose an option” screen
- Select “Advanced options” from “Troubleshoot” screen
- Select “Windows Startup Settings” from “Advanced options” screen
- Click “Restart” button
- System will restart to “Advanced Boot Options” screen
- Select “Disable Driver Signature Enforcement”
- Once the system starts, install the drivers
Thanks for your interest and support.
I have found the described location in c:\progran files (x86)Velleman\CubeAnimator\driver, but the only files there are MK193.cat and MK193.inf Are either of these the driver?
A also looked in the device manager but there is no listing for the MK193.
Another clue is that when I connect the USB cable the power certainly lights up the diodes and it goes through its sequences, but there is no “ding” from the computer - as if it doesn’t know the USB is connected.
All the soldering seems to be fine. In fact the cube worked first time in other respects.
Is anything supposed to be connected to SK3?
Thanks
Oh silly me.
I simply had not pushed the USB conector in far enough - it is a tight fit and when the power connected I thought is was in. But on pushing harder it went in further and the computer went ding. So maybe all is ok now!
And that was all I had to do. Running Cube Animater brought up the cube program and all is well!
Thanks.
