Hi,
Would it be possible to get five flashing led lamps to work when sound is triggered on the out line or replace led in place
I want to sound fire alarm plus flashing lights on fire station model train set
Thanks Geoff
This would require custom built external circuitry.
Sorry, we cannot assist with modifications, maybe some other forum user is able and willing to develop the necessary circuitry.
Hi,
I successfully put together the kit, and it works perfectly with the included speaker.
However I’m having troubles using the line-out-connection. I’ve tried connectiong it to a power amplifier (Kemo M034) via a pre-amplifier (M040) and a 10 k trimpot.
However I get an distorted sound, despite using shielded cables. The pre-amplifier has an input range of 2-50 mv, is that not suiting the line-out of MK174?
Does the speaker needs to be connected for correct operation?
As the MK174 features a line-level output (a couple of hundreds of millivolts), the preamp will be easily overdriven, hence the distortion.
Try without the preamp.

Thanks for the reply, should have thought of checking the standard levels of line outputs. It doesn’t matter if I change the setting of the 10 k trimpot, so I thought the fault lied elsewhere. I will try without the preamp.
