MK171 Voice Changer guitar pedal...?

Hello,

I just went out and bought a MK171 kit because I had the idea of replacing the mic and speaker with 1/4’’ jacks, toss it in a project box and use it as a guitar effects pedal.

My questions are:
-What would I have to replace / remove to have this kit operate at instrument level?
-How would I replace the existing switches with switches I can mount on the outside of the project box?
-Could I add potentiometers to blend the 3 different effects with each other and the dry guitar signal?
-Can I replace the battery with a DC power jack OR add one in addition to the battery clip?

I’m relatively new (and self taught) at electronics, so every bit of help I can get is fantastic!

Thank you,
-Jack

We have no experience with this, but hereby a couple of remarks and hints.

  1. No idea what output level one can expect from a guitar pickup, I would expect a couple of mV. I know that guitar pickups need to see a correct impedance, or their sound changes.
  2. You will have to remove R6 which supplies power to the mic. The guitar pickup does not need power.
  3. Just remove the buttons and solder short wires to the external buttons. Keep them as short as possible to avoid hum/noise pickup.
  4. Adding potmeters is not possible.
  5. Yes, you can replace the bat. clip with a DC jack. Watch the polarity and make sure to use a 9V regulated DC adaptor.

Thank you!

One more question. Are the switches latching / could I use latching switches?

Push buttons are latching.
