The volume control is working fine using the up and down IR commands (1 & 2). But I can not get the ‘mute’-function with auto fade-in listed in the description on your web site to work. How is this accomplished?
I bought this volume control with a specific purpose in mind that requires this feature.
Thanks,
Bill
The small two-channel transmitter MK162 is not equipped with a mute button, as there are only two buttons available.
The K8049 remote is equipped with a ‘MUTE’-button which triggers the MK164 ‘MUTE’-function.
I have bought the K8049 and can not get it to control the MK164.
On the K8049 #1 key is mute #3 is vol up and #5 is vol down correct?
I can not get it to work
What can be wrong.
I have the codes in a universal remote control and can get vol up and down to work but no mute.
On the K8049, you need to select mode 4
Tried mode 4 with no results.
K8049 red led blinks 4 times when batteries are inserted.
Is it possible to just post the hex code for mute? It is really all I need at the moment.
Hex code not available.
If you can use button 3 for vol up and button 5 for vol down then the mute button must also work. It is technically impossible that the µ-controller only partially functions.
Please use the K8049 for testing and not the universal remote. It is possible that the universal remote is not capable of reproducing the code correctly.
On the MK164 side, it is also technically impossible that it would respond to up/down but not to ‘mute’.

Anybody can enlighten me what is auto-fade in??
Please note that you need the K8049 remote in order to use the mute-function. The small keyfob remote does not feature a mute-button.
Select mode 4 on the K8049. When the mute-button is pressed, the signal will be muted. Press it again and it will slowly fade up to the previous audio level (auto fade-in).
Hi customsoundman,
could you be so kind and provide me your codes from the universal remote? I’m seeking now for a long time such codes to control my mk163. I need only volume ± and possibly mute codes.
If you can, it would be great if you send me this to damdy-cash@gmx.de
best regards Damdy

I also want to use the MK164 for a remote classroom volume control system and need the “mute” feature. I ordered the MK162 and it works fine for volume up and down, and I captured the codes for use in my 3rd party classroom IR control. But I needed the mute, so I ordered the K8051 15 code transmitter, but even on that, I can’t seem to find any button that works the MK164 mute. Can someone tell me which “channel” on the K8051 is supposed to send the mute code? (If neither of these Velleman remotes operate the mute, the MK164 specs that say it works with Velleman remote transmitters needs to be clarified!) I need to capture them with my Global Cache learning emitter for the classroom control.
Alternately, if someone could provide the actual raw or hex codes for the MK164 mute, that would be even better!
----UPDATE------ It appears the K8051 won’t send the MUTE code either, BUT I’ve discovered the Hex CCF codes for the MK164 and posted them below:
(Notice that captured or learned codes vary somewhat depending how long you hold the buttons, but these seem to work for me).
