MK164 and MUTE

I bought a MK164 together with a K8051 remote control.

Volume up and down works very fine. However, the mute function is not working.
Do I have to program the K8051 to mute the sound?

Another question for my better unstanding.
Is it better to position the MK164 between the amplifier and the pre-amplifier ot better between the device (eg DVD Player) and the pre-amplifier? Or doesn’t is matter for the quality of the sound?

K8051 does not feature mute command.
K8049 does.
Position of unit is not really important. If put between pre- and power amp, you can adjust volume of all units that are connected to the pre-amp.
