MK121PAL Classic Tennis Game

My son finished building this kit yesterday and he has made a very neat and good looking job of it. The game itself works fine, but unfortunately there is no sound output from the board. I can’t find any problems with his construction. Any ideas???

Thanks.

hi,
first of all, check the soldering,

then, check that the cable is correctly plugged in
match the colours up: red plug to the red socket…

then check the cable with a multimeter, make sure there are no breaks in the cable etc

hopefully it will then work, if not, post a reply…

thanks,
fish

Thanks fish - the soldering is excellent, the cable is fine, the polarity critical components are all orientated correctly, and the resistors and other components are in their correct places. There are no bridged or missed soldered joints, and no sign of broken pcb tracks. I have done all the basics already. I suspect I’m looking for a component level fault here.

Component fault is highly unlikely
Audio is output at pin 9 of the controller. Check if you measure pulses coming from this output (e.g. scope or multi-meter).
Check R2, R8, C6
Make sure connection to amp/TV is ok.
Check with other line-level source

Thanks VEL417 - replaced C6 - all is now well.
