MK118RS Made a mistake, Do I have to buy a whole new kit?

My son soldered the IC Socket, (#4 Item on instructions) the wrong way round. IC1.
I removed it by heating up all the soldering but now there are no little copper circles on the circuit board. How do I re-solder this IC1 back into the board as the solder has no copper to connect to?
Also if this is not repairable can I just buy the circuit board rather than the whole kit? My son spent ages saving up his spending money for this and is pretty devastated.
Please help if possible.

Thanks.

John.
