MK113 using a non-mercury tilt switch

I have built the kit and it works 100% with the supplied toggle switch.

What I wish to do is activate the output using a tilt switch though. Directly substitution of the mechanical switch with a non-mercury mini-tilt switch does work, but I get a very noisy output from the speaker.

I assume that I need to change R1 and/or C1 to get around this problem. Your advice is greatly appreciated.

I would put a large (e.g. 470µF) cap between ground and cathode of D1…
