MK 186 Help- What did I do wrong?

I followed the instruction manual, but when I attach my kit to the power source nothing happens. I tested the 12v adapter and it is working fine…

PICS FURTHER DOWN

I haven’t trimmed my ends yet in case I need to make some adjustments, but I was sure to keep them apart when testing it with the 12v adapter

Unfortunately I don’t think you can get into facebook unless you’re a member.
So no one can see the pictures.

What is a better host for the pics?

I’m not sure but it looks like C3 is mounted backwards.
It also looks like you did not solder the LED
Also the small tab on the Mic is the ground point for the mic.
make sure it is soldered as well.

OK. I fixed c3 and soldered the LED. Now when I plug it in the LED flashes! But nothing is happening with the light strip I attached to the out…

The light strip is not reacting or lighting up at all. I tested it, and it does work. I’m not sure where to go from here

It’s hard to tell from the picture.
What kind of strip are you using?
Is it 12 volts?
is the polarity correct?

This is the product I am using. Yes, I have rechecked polarity, and it is correct

Those look like the right LEDs.
I just made your picture bigger.
It looks like some of the insulation for the ground to the LEDs is in the socket.
Maybe it’s not getting a good connection.

Looking at it once more I think you have T1 mounted backwards.
The metel plate should line up with the white stripe on the print

I disconnected the lights and cleaned up the connections.

The lightstrip isn’t lighting up at all- as if it isn’t even plugged in. Could it be an issue with the terminal connection?

Sorry but T1 needs to be turned around.
It is backwards

Sorry I didn’t catch that before.
:frowning:

OK, thanks. Let me fix it. And that should do it, right?

I turned the T1 around and now the light strip comes on!
It isn’t really sound reactive though. The sensitivity knob just speeds it up and slows it down as far as I can tell. I am going to keep trying to adjust the sensitivity settings, but any ideas on why that is happening?
Thank you so much for all of your help!

I didn’t get a chance to see if the resistors were all in the correct places
You may want to look at them
If you haven’t do it yet you may want to trim the leads down

Yes, I trimmed all of the leads after turning the T1 around. I was especially careful with the resistors, but it is possible they are nor in the right places.

So it is kind of working. Not really sound reactive and only if the sensitivity switch is all the way up. It flashes for a minute and stops. I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to come back on. It’s working less and less by the minute.
And now, the light strip only cones on if I touch certain points on the component side with my finger… What should I do next?

Most likely, T1 has been damaged and should be replaced.
Please cut the remaining leads of the parts, they are a guarantee for further problems.
