Mk 161

Hi,

I have a little problem with the MK161 kit (2-CHANNEL IR REMOTE RECEIVER)

It seems to work, but I am unable to make the receiver learn codes from any of the remotes that i currently own (i did try about 7 different remotes).

The instructions states that is compatible with most Velleman kit IR remotes like (MK162, K6710, K8051, K8049), it doesn’t say that is compatible ONLY with these remotes.

So my questions are:

  1. what is so special about Velleman remotes or codes?
  2. if i buy a MK162 kit (which is supposed to work with MK161), would it be possible to learn its codes from a Logitech Harmony 880?

Thanx,
Chris.

This receiver is not a universal receiver. As indicated, it works with all Velleman IR transmitters. The instructions don’t mention that it is compatible with just any remote. If this would be the case, it would surely say so, as this would be a good sales argument.
Most learning remotes accept the codes from Velleman IR remotes.
