I have just made up the MK118 FM radio and it seems to have a really noise buzz, kind of high pitch and is far louder than the radio static in the back ground. ( the buzz is not the one you would expect with the radio static). any ideas on what could be wrong? thanks rich
I have the same problem. Loud buzz, no channels. All components are in the right place and have right polarisation. What could it be? It also hums when IC1 is not in (without touching R9).
The volume of the hum stays the same, no matter how we turn the volume knob. The powersupply gives 14V instead of 12V, but it could hardly be the cause as the VR should take care of that.
Make sure all pins of FM front end are soldered.
If it also hums when IC1 is not inserted, I would take a close look at the parts and solderings around the 386 amp circuit.
If problem persists, return kit for inspection.
