You can find the diagram here:

This kit is susceptible for solderingfaults. In almost all the cases my customers return this kit to me because of this error it is always a bad or forgotten soldering joint.

Hi

I have this kit for almost 10 years kept in a box and it always worked fine.

I connected it yesterday using a variable power supply (Range 3V-30V).

But by little brother changed the power supply to 30V and now there are some leds off.

Refering to the diagram it seems to be the leds above T4 T5 and T6 (In series with the 470Ohms Resistors) . Should i change these transistors?

Can you explain me their function and the normal operating values in this circuit?

I measured Vbe=9V?? (Isn’t supposed to be 0.7v?) Vce=4V??

Please Help me, i really like this Kit and i want to show it to my family.

For what it costs and for the time it only takes: replace those transistors and the resistors… desoldering and measuring takes longer than replacing them and the parts cost nothing…

Thank you for your help.

I have just changed 3 transistors and the Santa is riding again like new

Best Regards

No problem!
Glad it works again… and as you seem to be in a X-mas mood already: Merry X-mas!
