MINTEMP error

After a good initial run with my Vertex, I seem to be having more and more problems lately :frowning:

While still trying to get to the bottom of the recent problems I’ve been having with the nozzle maintaining temperature, today I am getting a MINTEMP error on the right-hand extruder.

I checked the thermistor was wired in correctly.
I tried a spare thermistor, same problem.
I verified the spare thermistor to be working by connecting it to the left extruder, where it correctly reads a temperature.
I swapped the extruder temperature sensor cables over on the motherboard. The right hand extruder now reads a temperature, and the left hand extruder does not.
As I know the thermistor is working, this would seem to indicate the problem is either with the sensor cable for the right hand extruder, or with the extruder PCB or connector.

Any other tests I can do to help isolate the problem so I can request the appropriate replacement part?

Check the continuity of the sensor cable between the terminals on the U shaped PCB and the plug on the controller side. If the test is OK check the plug for a bent contact.

I’ve found the culprit, a damaged trace on the print head PCB. I’m beginning to wonder if a faulty/failing thermistor connection on the PCB could have been at least part of the cause of my temperature issues, as the right-hand nozzle which has the damaged thermistor connection was much more severely affected by it than the left-hand nozzle.

@Velleman, as the printer is less than 6 months old, would this be replaced under warranty?

Please issue a ticket on support.velleman.eu/ for spare parts.
And post a reference to this forum post.
