My printer has been working fine for a while but when I recently switched it on, the extruder temperature won’t move off zero, neither the nozzle or the heated bed will heat up, the manual controls for the x, y and z won’t work but I can calibrate them.
Check the thermistor wiring of heatbed and hotend.
A 0°C Value indicates a short circuit.
If the temp doesn’t go over 5°c the printer firmware shuts down for secutrity reasons. (prevent fire)
The wiring has not changed since it was functional. It still won’t provide a temperature when I remove the thermistor so it’s definitely not in contact with metal.
Remove both thermistor plugs and check if the temp reading changes when you leave the
contacts open or short them, (with a screwdriver for example)
What readings do you get then?
I just noticed a disconnected wire, it must have come out when I removed the filament. That has sorted the problem with the extruder and heated bed but the manual controls still won’t work.
So you get correct temp readings on both heaters now?
Yes, I restarted it and it’s working again now thank you.
You’re Welcome!
Happy printing!
