Mainboard Cover

Hi, I am thrilled with this printer kit and love the crate. Since I had an idea. To protect the motherboard something I have a cover designed for print (http://www.maraos.de/vertex/mainboard_cover.zip).
It has all the cutouts that it needs and consists of 2 parts because it would otherwise be printed at once too big, you just glued it together. What else you need are 4 studs as distance.

Well that’s looking great! Now is the flow of the fan aimed at the mainboard!

If the replacement pulleys are delivered and my printer works again I will print it :stuck_out_tongue:

Cheers,
Dylan

Hey Maraos,

That is a great idea. Since the driver boards of the stepper motors seem to overheat (and totally flip&fail in my printer) I like this. It makes sure all the air that flows to the wrong side of the device, is not a complete loss of cooling. Also … an encasing for the mainboard is always nice.

Just a thought…

The power supply has an internal aluminum heatsink that is connected to the steel outer shell. It seems to get its cooling from the same fan (air flowing over the perforated sheet)
Did you block this flow to the power supply… --> will that be ok? Well… it does get the second hand air flow from the mainboard… so that’s probably ok. But maybe there could be a second duct…

Tnx for sharing the zip! I downloaded it

I had a test print about 7 hours and found no evidence of excessive heating of the main power supply - sketch you’re right, we should observe temperature in any case

Wunderfull idea I like it.

Maybe forsee a door with hinges, if someday the access is needed
to the connectors or other components?
