I was still working out the smooth XY axis motion when on my tenth test print it went wrong and the x-axis got stuck halfway the print, which I think is because the X axis controller died. To test this, I intended to switch the X and Z controllers to see if it’s the controller or the motor.
However, I make a big mistake, when plugging the controller back into place I accidently placed the controller incorrectly. I placed it a column of pins too much to the left. So two pins not plugged into anything and two pin slots left empty.
Smoke came out of the bottom when I plugged the printer in again, I unplugged it but the damage is done.
Is it the big board that’s fried now or did it spread to everything?
I did the same misstake when I inserted the driver board for the second extruder outside of its socket.
I bought a new mainboard, two new driverboards and connected everything again but the lcd does not work anymore, one can see that the lcd glows but no characters is visible.
I could not find any lcds for k8400 for sale, is it possible to use the lcd for k8200 instead?
Since the lcd is not working it is not possible to store the loaded new firmware.
Is that possible to do over usb connection?
How can I find out what electronics is destroyed and what is still working?
Why don’t you send it to those nice guys at velleman?
No, you rather want to buy one of those overpriced ones online, I’d try to open a ticket first and see what they respond.
I’ve seen stuff replaced here that’s destroyed by way bigger stupidity than accidental reversing the driverboards… Or am I wrong and you have contacted them already?
Anyway hope U get that baby working again.
