I’ve just completed the 5x5x5 LED cube K8018 and cannot get the LED’s to light up. I have checked all the solder joints and they look OK. I have downloaded the software and installed the driver. I plug in the LED Cube to the USB and the red LED lights up. Then when I try to send animation to cube, the screen says it is sending animation but then no LED’s light up.
I have searched this forum for help but nothing works.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Are you powering it with a regulated 9vDC power supply?
No, it didn’t come with any kind of power supply or battery pack. I’m just plugging it straight into the laptop with the USB connection.
These are the specs
Specifications
regulated power supply: 9VDC (not incl.)
power consumption: 300mA max.
dimensions: 110 x 110 x 150 mm / 4.33 x 4.33 x 5.9"
Thanks. So you think if I plug in a power supply, load the animations to the cube then it should work? I’ll give it a try
OK, I tried plugging in a 9v battery pack but still nothing. The leds flickered once or twice but nothing else.
I’ve tried it with just the battery pack, the battery pack and the USB and just the USB and nothing works. Help!
Since I don’t know anything about your battery pack.
Can it supply 9 Volts DC @ 300mA?
I’m not sure. It’s a battery pack with 6 x AA (1.5V) batteries I’ve been using with an Arduino Uno and works fine with that.
You should try a power supply just to rule that out.
