Hi All,
So happy to have the assembly finished… everything went well… but the LCD screen doesn’t display anything at the first power on. I see the screen is blue, there is power, but nothing is displayed. Big connector on the print head is disconnected. I double checked all the connections that seem to be OK. Anyone of you who had the same issue and managed to fix it?
Many thanks in advance
Gill
Did you use the trimpot at the front(little hole) to change contrast?
it could be that it is displaying something but you’re unable to see.
The manual does have some info on this.
Best regards,
Danny
You should turn the machine over and look at the control board.
Make sure none of the LEDs for the heaters are on.
If they are do not plug the print head in
Hi Tricore, yes I’ve checked the contrast and that’s not the source of the problem.
Hi Wrong Way, LED of heater1 is red. What does it mean?
As said earlier the main plug of the print head is disconnected for the first power on - as recommended in the Velleman doc.
This is not good.
Do not plug the print head in.
You need to wait until you get a reply from Velleman.
Hi!
Thanks for your replies!
I switched it on again this morning and I now have 3 red LEDs on the board (I changed nothing in the meantime): http://monosnap.com/image/ehmJPduVHPYU1GkWyBEtOp6CGYVrMQ#
These are Heater1, Heater2 and Bed heater (on which nothing is connected).
I hope this can help finding the cause of this issue…
Many thanks for your help - and hopefully Velleman guys are reading me this week-end
Gill
Gill,
This sounds like the control board is failing.
Since this is a holiday weekend it maybe Monday before you get a reply.
But I’m sure they will help you out.
Still stuck with my 3d printer. Disappointed!
I tried to call velleman support directly and I was told they are all on holidays…
If you read me guys, please help.
Many thanks
Gill
Do the 3 LEDs stay lit when you reset the board?
Did you try to connect to the printer with Repieter?
There is something inconsistent with the leds, now I only have one lit: Heater1
I tried to reset the board and it doesn’t change anything.
I haven’t tried to connect Repetier but I will and let you know the outcomes
(btw Raby, I see that we are not far away from each other, happy to get in touch ;-))
With the board acting the way it is I don’t think I would connect it to anything.
Ok!
Indeed. May be I can help you but I’m afraid your board is out of commission.
You could try the following : remove all the stepper drivers and all the cables from the board. Plug a USB cable and try to connect with Repieter (don’t forget the usb driver). I it connects plug one axis at a time and check it etc…
Also check that the LCD screen is correctly plugged to the board (mine wasn’t the first time).
Oh and I forgot : first thing first : try to flash the board with the latest Marlin firmware.
With the heater LED being on all of the time at power on is not good and says it’s not the drivers and the board is out of control
Guess what… if I disconnect the reset button from the main board, it works !
I see the screen working now, I’ll continue with the next steps…
Hello,
I had the same problem with my lcd sreen. The mistake came that the nuts were to tighten. Relax a little the nuts and the lcd run.
Is the reset button stuck?
Shame on me… I know where all this came from… and that’s MY fault!
The FAN2 and RESET cables were switched on the board… and even if I double checked I missed that same color and no sticker
Sorry and thank you
Glad you found the solution.
Should need anything else, we’re neighbours and my printer is fully operational…
Glad to hear it’s all good now.
