LCD reacts first time only with printer tilted (face down)

Hi,

I just finished the 3d printer vertex k8400 printer assembly. The problem is: the LCD panel does not show anything (lit background, no messages). This problem as a workaround: tilting the printer (75 degrees at least) solve the problem: you switch on the printer, the right message show up on the lcd panel. I found the flat cable connector a little loose but even pushing it towards the pcb does not change things: the tilt works, any other move no. Did you find something like this?

Bye

Check to see if either of the reset buttons are being pressed.
Look hard at the one on the LCD.

I had to strip down the complete LCD installation.
After a new attempt, the LCD was working.
It was actually the pin connector between the two boards

Thanks I’ll look to the reset buttons. did you find other problems with the usb drivers? the prnter is not recongnized.

If you have a reset button stuck in that may cause that problem.

Do you guys know the meaning of the green and red leds on the pcb?

Thanks

The green led flashes on power on/reset. There’s a red led for each channel (motors and heaters). And there are 2 multicolor leds for the serial link.

After a little work on connections (nothing really seemed wrong - only some cable loose) the printer power cycle works everytime and the lcd shows the right messages but…

NO USB CONNECTION AVAILABLE: no matter what o.s. I use (windows xp 32 bit, windows 7 64 bit, linux ubuntu, linux mageia), no matter what cable I use (short lenght, standard lenght, original…) the pcb of the printer is not recognized. The usb port of the pc powers the pcb and the lcd on, leds on the pcb cycles but nothing happens on the side of the pc. Device manager shows “unknown device”. The usbview software shows ANYTHING on the port. The lsusb command in a linux terminal does the same: NO DEVICE.

It seems like the USB connection does not work AT LEAST.

What can I do now?

By the way happy new year

Did you install the right USB-serial driver? In Windows when the printer is plugged, does a new COM port show up in the Device Manager?

I had the same prob after some WIN-updates.
I had to reinstall the USB-drivers and after that, it worked again.
