K8400-Y-axis motor only moves in one direction

when I completely assembled the 3d printer and wanted to test the movement of all of the axis, I noticed that the y-axis only turns in one direction.

I have tried/checked the following:

  • switched the stepper driver board with a board from a working axis (no effect)
  • checked if the y stepper motor worked on other axis (it did)
  • checked for broken wires/connectors between the driver board pins (1A 2A 1B 2B) and the connector at the end of the wire near the stepper motor (no broken connections).

I noticed that when I drive the y-motor in the working direction, the light next to the stepper driver board lights up brightly. When I turn the motor in the non-working directly however, the light next to the driver board is very dim and pulses brightly every so often.

This sounds like the end stop for the Y axis is having an issue.
Since it is an optical end stop you might try cleaning it with a soft cloth or a Q-tip

Thanks for the suggestion, thats one thing i did not check.
I just cleaned it up very well with a soft cloth, which fixed the problem.
