I recently built my K8400 with dual extruders, but I experience some problems. After the first couple of days I’ve got massive shift problems. Every other layer will suddenly shift a couple of mm on the y axis. Could it help to loosen the belt tension as they are on their tightest?
Also, whenever i start a print the motors makes a serious noise even when in home position. I assume the endstops doesn’t work properly, but I haven’t got a chance to figure this one out. This is an issue when i press “go home” as well. I’ve printed out the x-axis alignment bars which helped a lot when it came to aligning the axis.
I’m using Velleman PLA at 200 degrees and Curaengine to slice. Other than that it’s pretty much factory setup. I’m also using the latest firmware M1 V1.1
Everybody is experiencing that at the beginning. The X and Y axis are not properly tuned. Check the Wiki about it and follow the procedure step by step. It then should work. The axis must run really freely from end to end. And the belts must not be too tightened.
Your endstops probably work but can’t be reached as the axis are getting stuck before.
Thanks for your rapid reply Raby! I did some research among the forum and as you’ve stated several times before, the belts can’t be to tight. I tried to loosen the X-axis belts and now it seems like everything turned out fine. I’m in a three hour mid print with no shift issues yet!
As for the end stops I’m almost to embarrased to say how I solved it, but that’s what the forum is for! Somehow I’ve managed to mix the X and Y axis end stops even though I was really thorough when I connected them. Lucky for me, it was a quick fix!
I hope the printer will be more stable from now on when I’ve sorted out these man made faults…
