Good Afternoon
I bought the K8400 assembled it and loaded the filament, so far no problem. To test it I load the filament over the menu and after heating up by around 210° it comes out by the needle so far so good.
I tried to use the “Repetier-Server and Host” and later also the “Ultimaker Cura” software to print something. I got some sample files, sliced them and sent the job to the printer. The printer heats up; starts but doesn’t print correctly. The needle scratches on my board (but not the heated one, as this printer didn’t have it within). The board goes up and down it I reload the filament.
I tried it over and over again but I have no idea where the problem could be. Does anyone has an idea?
Thx a lot, Thomas.
Hey
What do you mean by the needle scratch on the board ? Did you calibrate the home position correctly ?
The board is supposed to go down when you load filament and the head should be in the center of x-y plan.
Thank You for replying.
I made some tests yesterday and I think I know now where the problem is. The board goes up and stops at the needle and also doesn’t goes down if the printing process starts. So when the print starts the needle scratches on the board and tries to press out the filament, what obviously doesn’t work as there is no space in between. When I rotate the board somehow with force manually a little down it kinda prints but the filament doesn’s give a proper form but that could be the heat as the printing header makes the form. So bottom line, I probably should adjust somehow the Z-axis. I looked up the manual (https://manuals.velleman.eu/article.php?id=22) but somehow the board always goes up again straight under the needle…
Yep then you have to adjust the stop end sensor. What printhead are you using ?
I’m using the standard: NOZ8400/SP.
How do I adjust the end stop sensor? That’s what I was looking for… Looks like the platform goes up till the full end, like till the needle stops it
Thx, I had and tried that… What I was wondering, where is the level of the board settet up, is it only manualy?
Yes it is manual.
I generally go back and check mine after about 50 prints.
It’s easy and not that big of a deal.
Thx. It’s more or less just drill down the M3 pole, right - like to adjust the level?
After you get the adjustment done in the back of the printer the rest can be done wit the 3 thumb screws under the bed.
I did it, well and I tried to print with the standard settings in Cura, I played a little with the settings but it always ends up with something like that. I use ABS filament, 1.75mm and print by 210°, it heats up to 240° and drops then to the 210. Do you have any clue what the problem could be? Thank You a Lot.
Are you using the software from this link?
https://www.vellemanusa.com/downloads/files/vertex/software/vertex-3d-printer-repetier-host-1-0-6.zip
This has the ini files and drivers for the K8400.
If you are just starting to print you should use PLA it is very forgiving and does not put out the fumes that ABS puts out. Print temp for ABS should be around 220c PLA 190c don’t forget the room needs to be fairly warm as well 23c 24c
