so I finally decide to get on Friday a Vellman printer, this thread will be updated with my personnal experience in printing
Friday 06/05/2014: 9:00 PM kit is at home, starting building until 04:00AM where almost all the mecanical was mounted
Saturday 07/05/2014: 08:30AM starting with the electronical build -> arround 7:00PM I’ve been able to make the first print
Sunday 08/05/2014: printer calibration, almost done that for a day - still have to do some calibration
Monday 09/05/2014: printer is getting there still have to tweak the retractation fillament, but so far on the picture bellow that looks “ok” with the default kit to me
Next upgrade: I have order my e3d-v6 yesterday, awaiting the kit to be there.
any suggestion on the retractation setting for a PLA 3mm, and also the first upgrade that need to be printed on thingiverse.com for my k8200?
The only thing you could do is buying a flex coupler and printing a Z-motor holder, even if I don’t see any Z-wobbling on your piece (but it’s rather flat).
The main improvement you’ll get from your E3D Hot-end is less oozing (which can’t be totally prevented with the stock hot-end even with more retraction).
Cheap couplers to be found here : (I bought some there and it’s OK. Expect delivery within a fortnight).
The coupler reduces Z-wobbling but as it seems you don’t have any it’s not mandatory for you.
I don’t agree that the e3d hotend oozes less than original. My v5 oozes a lot
And i need a lot of retraction on all types of filament. Nylon especially.
Other than that i have had a LOT of problems with jams. It got partially solved with drilling of
nozzles. But they fixed that with new v6 nozzles.
Best fix for k8200 is a metal z flexcoupling and a proper trapezoidal rod instead of standard m8 rod.
I don’t quite understand. A matching nozzle with 0.4 mm orifice is included in all the kits. Did you order all the parts separately? This seems to be the only way to combine a 3 mm hotend with a 1.75 mm nozzle. Or did you choose a 1.75 mm kit (which includes a nozzle for 1.75 mm filament)? Then you should contact the E3D guys and try to rearrange your order, since the heatsink and heatbreak also depend on the filament diameter.
so yesterday printing result, I’m currently happy with it however a lot of oozes still
I have change the retractation to 8.5mm but still didn’t change anything
Raby, thanks for the link I will buy one just in case
AndersE, regarding the trapezoidal rod, I have one at home already but cannot remember the step/resolution
Virror, I’ll post my settings once I would be happy with the result (no more oozes and I would be happy :D)
Kuraasu, all has been fixed by Sanjay I’m impress about the service to be honnest he has been able to pickup the good before the postage to change for a 3mm nuzzles!
I’m looking to print the K8200 cover with FAN hole but 9h print is a bit long
I’m currently having trouble with the extruder and the PLA feed,
last print didn’t succeed due to the fact that the PLA get stuck on the extruder,
does that happend to you already before?
that the second time, first time I had to dismount all the extruder head in order to remove the melted PLA
in Belgium, where do you buy your filament, I’d like to continue with the Velleman brand filament has I don’t want to change my settings again with another filament brand

Yes it did happen to me : extruder far too hot due to slightly misplaced CTN. With the heat the PLA is softening above the teflon part and makes a blob.
You can buy Velleman’s filament at Conrad.be. My electronic shop next door is also selling it but I doubt it will help you;).
