K8200 - New Printer - Motor Direction Problems

Hello All…PLEASE HELP !!!

Printer built everything worked but X and Y reversed.
changed the Eprom config.h to reverse X and Y - Now it runs in the correct directions.

Using:
#define INVERT_X_DIR true // for Mendel set to false, for Orca set to true
#define INVERT_Y_DIR true // for Mendel set to true, for Orca set to false

I am following the setup build so my next step is to press X home (testing the x endstop).
with the bed positioned to the left, It should run to the right.
It dosn’t, it tries to go further left.

Is there something else in the Eprom that I should have reversed?

Yes - the printer is wired correctly (as per the instructions), The X and Y motors just ran in the opposite direction.
Yes - changed the driver boards using Extruder and Z, no change in direction.

OR what have I done wrong ?

All Assistance is gratefully received.
Thank you all

Peter

Hi,

What makes you say it’s running backwards,
When I finished my printer I thought it was running backwards.
I think the software was written for a machine where the head moves not the bed.
The movement is done with regards to the position of the print head.
You should put the original firmware back or go to V2.

Hello Wrong Way.

Thank you, I did hope you would look at this problem.

I am so frustrated with these electronics, I have bought a new board / motor / 4 driver boards.
But the same problems keep coming.

Wrong direction =
Repetier X+ button should go to the right, mine goes to the left.
Repetier X- button should go the left, mine goes to the right.
But the X and Y Home buttons do go to the EndStops which is correct (I think !).

By reversing the wiring (at the control board plug) or the Eprom I can make the motors correspond to Repetier instructions BUT … The X and Y home button on both reversing methods take the carriage away from the end stops.

I am using Windows7 , Velleman repetier v. 0_95F, USB serial driver.

I am so confused, I do not know what to try next.
You mentioned Marlin V2 ? will that help ?

What do you suggest or why is this happening?

Many Thanks
Peter

Hallo Peter_D,

sure there is something wrong? I assume you have the printer standing with the spool holder on your right hand, pointing to you and the z-axis drive on your left side. Pressing the x home button makes the bed moving to the right until it hits the end stop, right? The actual position for x is 0 now. If you press +x 10 mm, then your bed is moving to the left, increasing the x-position. If it does, everything is all right, don’t worry. The printing head is now 10mm more to the right side of the bed, because the bed has moved to the left.

Hi Walo

Thanks for your help, BUT …
Yes Z is on my left and spool on my right.

With the standard Marlin Eprom settings. the X+ goes left (wrong way) and X- goes right (Wrong way)
the Y is wrong way too. But if I press X or Y home they do go to the endstops.

Now if I change the wires at the control plug or reverse direction in the Eeprom, the motors go the right way but the X and Y home buttons go the wrong way (to the left for X and Front for Y )

What have I done wrong ? or what is going wrong !! I am frustrated with this problem.
Extruder, Fan and Z work correctly, replaced the X motor with a new one, no change still wrong.
Replaced the driver cards and replaced the control board, still the same problem.

I am thinking I must re solder / re insulate all joints But … everything runs so smooth (but wrong)
Is it possible that the wiring is dodgy and work so well ?

Thank you for helping I need it !!

Peter

Hi Peter_D,

I still don’t get it, sorry. X+ makes the heating bed move to the left, this is the right, not wrong. As you described in your posting, the bed moves away from it’s end stop, which is the usual behaviour when clicking on X+.

Hi Walo.

Thank you so much if it is my understanding.

Please can I clarify.

Repetiers X+ Arrow shows it to go right. but in reality it goes left, Correct ?
Repetiers X - Arrow shows it to go left. but in reality it goes right, Correct ?

Pressing home takes the Beds away from the endstops ?
As mine does, and rams the Z pillar. as it does not know where 0 is yet.

Sorry for my confusion (and I still am), I thought the Endstops on X and Y were 0.
Wrong way said I was wrong too.

Is Repetier (Manual control) Looking down from the Extruder then?
Please Tell me if that is correct.

I think it may be sinking in !!
OH Gee Wiz why did I not realise that sooner, or the book say that.

I am so sorry and thankful to you guy’s.

Thanks to you both. I will look at it again with fresh eyes. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

Peter

It all makes Perfect sense now!!

Machine is all correct. I cannot thank you guy’s enough.

Peter

Hi Peter_D
Repetiers X+ Arrow shows it to go right. but in reality it goes left, Correct ?
Correct.
Repetiers X - Arrow shows it to go left. but in reality it goes right, Correct ?
Correct.
Now if I change the wires at the control plug or reverse direction in the Eeprom, the motors go the right way but the X and Y home buttons go the wrong way (to the left for X and Front for Y )
You still have this configuration? Then you’ll have to set it back.
Sorry for my confusion (and I still am), I thought the Endstops on X and Y were 0.
You understood this right. Home moves the bed to the right and to the back. There is 0 for x and y. So X+ can move the bed only to the left, even if the arrow on the screen points to the right.
Wrong way said I was wrong too.
You should have believe him. Would have saved you a lot of trouble.
Is Repetier (Manual control) Looking down from the Extruder then?
Correct, that’s the point!

So get your machine set up properly now, we want to hear from the first successfull print soon.
